The Denville Cub Scout Pack 99 Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular and successful family activities. Pinewood derby cars are small wooden models that Cub Scouts make with help from their families. Then they race the cars in competition. The cars are powered by gravity and run down a track. Most packs have a pinewood derby every year. Every boy can design and build his own “grand prix” car to enter in the race.

Pack 99 races its pinewood derby cars in January each year. Prizes are awarded in several categories for design  and of course the big honors are won on the track. Typically, each den races several heats to determine a den winner. At the end of the top half of the pack race in the pack championship. Is the 2016 even,  there will be sibling and adult divisions.

The Pinewood Derby is often the highlight of a scout’s year.
